BEFORE CHOOSING A DANCE STUDIO
1. What age is appropriate to start my preschooler?
The average age to begin dance is 2-3 years old. This age is when children are most accepting of new things and can follow instructions.
2. What if my pre-school child will not go into the class without me?
This is a normal reaction for pre-school children. Sometimes a new place and teacher can be scary for them. Our studio asks that you encourage your child to enter the classroom without you, explain you will watch from the large windows with the other parents. However, if needed, we will invite you into the classroom. After a few weeks they realize this is a safe, fun place and will no longer need to have you in the room.
3. Why can’t the parents stay in the classroom?
Children act differently when parents are in the room. They tend to look for, and react to, your approval. When they are asked to do something new that may be difficult for them, they may want to cling to you rather then learn the new step.
4. How will I know if my child is dancing?
The most important thing for your child is to have fun! If the children enjoy themselves they will continue for years to come. Our goal is to provide our students with the skills they need to enjoy dance for a lifetime.
